The Workhouse is a project dedicated to working for sustainability, whilst learning from the past. A community project drawing on the creativity of the wider area to bring back to life the old abandoned Victorian workhouse.
The Green Fayre is an event designed to bring people together who share an enthusiasm for all things green. Its really just an excuse to get together in the beautiful Welsh countryside and perhaps learn a few new things and most importantly have some fun.
The project itself has been busy working away at the Llanfyllin Workhouse, trying to bring the place alive after 25 years of dereliction and to create a focus for people interested in working for sustainability. Its all about having creative fun working with the people around us and with the materials we have to hand. We aim to celebrate all forms of creativity and create a platform to share.
The Green Fayre is all about making your own fun, music, entertainment. Its the love everything from coppice crafts, charcoaling, making mending and doing to working with Wool, spinning, dyeing and knittting all sorts of stuff. We are making yurts, planting gardens and doing everything we can to bring the place alive.
Come and get involved please. This is the first of we hope many, Green Fayre’s, local food fayre’s and folk music gatherings at the Workhouse
